There are three locations for a Civil Wedding in Rome: the Sala Rossa at the Campidoglio, The Complesso Vignola Mattei at the Terme di Caracalla and the pretty Villa Lais. All of them are unique and historical. The ceremony lasts about 15 minutes and is conducted by the Major or, most of the time, by a substitute. It includes the reading of the civil wedding articles and, if you wish, you can customize it with music, vows or readings. Generally the venues need to be booked six months prior to your desired date.
The options for Catholic ceremonies in Rome are endless, in fact in Rome you can find the most beautiful and ancient churches in the world. All the religious documents must be obtained via the couple’s parish priest and I will be delighted to help you with the organization, co-ordination and providing you with all the information required. Most churches accept bookings from a year in advance.
Symbolic ceremonies are not legally recognized and will not have official value. You can celebrate them everywhere – at a Villa, a castle, even on the beach! It’s a perfect option for those who can’t have a classic ceremony such as same sex couples or where a couple’s religion allows more than one spouse. It can be performed by a family member or I will be happy to provide a celebrant. You can customize it however you want.
